Georgia amended its criminal code to include gender identity and sexual orientation as protected characteristics. These additional characteristic apply to the general penalty enhancement provision.

Identoba reported a further three physical assaults, including one against a boy after he revealed his sexuality; a series of assaults against a lesbian woman; and two cases of death threats against a man who is a well-known member of the gay community and the editor of Identoba’s online magazine. The Women’s Initiative Supporting Group reported a further serious physical assault against a girl.
Identoba launched an online hate crime reporting form that victims can use to report hate crime incidents anonymously.
ODIHR observes that Georgia has not reported on hate crimes separately from cases of hate speech and/or discrimination.
