The Norwegian Police arrested Anders Behring Breivik and charged him with the 22 July 2011 attacks on government buildings in Oslo and a political party youth summer camp on Utøya Island, which killed a total of 77 people and injured hundreds more. The main court trial began on 16 April 2012. Breivik has claimed he carried out the massacre on Utøya in order to wipe out the next generation of a political party he blamed for encouraging a multicultural Norway.
